SOLR Indexer run but there are no index files

In theory, I have run the indexer.

I tried 

cd foswiki/tools
virtualhosts-solrindex topic=Sandbox.BagelTwo

There were no errors and no results.

I looked under
  • solr/multicore//foswiki/data -- nothing found
  • solr/solr/data/index -- nothing found

Note that this issue is probably related to the fact that other parts of the installation are complaining that they can't find the Solr server, even though ps shows that it is running.

Are there any hickups in the solr logs?
