This question about Using an extension: Asked

Send email on submitting a comment

Hi,

in our foswiki system we have an topic owner for each topic. We want to send him an e-mail when a new comment is submitted on the topic.

Do MetaCommentPlugin provide such a function? Or do you have any other idea how we can implement this?

Greetings

Ingrid

Check out the WebNotify topic in each web. Here you can arrange for owners of topics to be notified.

You may need a process to automate adding topics/owners to WebNotify and I am not aware of any Plugin that gives that capability. However SubscribePlugin makes it easy for an owner to subscribe him/herself to WebNotify.

I note that you have been added to WebNotify automatically by creating this topic on foswiki.org, so you will be notified of my comments. Based on that there must be a mechanism to do this. I cannot check this out right now, but hopefully someone else will let you know how to achieve it.

Hi julian,

thats a good idea. I will check this.

"I note that you have been added to WebNotify automatically" -> I wasn't added automatically to the Notify list, I add me manually.

Not sure that WebNotify is working for meta comments. I seem to be receiving notifications of changes to the main topic, but no notifications when comments are added.
