How to use KinoSearchContrib in sidebar search?

I have installed KinoSearchContrib and KinoSearchPlugin. The index has been created and in-topic searches work just fine.

The docs say that I need to set
$Foswiki::cfg{RCS}{SearchAlgorithm} = 'Foswiki::Store::SearchAlgorithms::Kino';
and
* Set SKIN = kino,myskin
in order for KinoSearch to be used in the sidebar search (WebSearch).

However, this doesn't seem to work - the old search results page is still shown. I'm in a CGI environment.

Hmm, it should "just work", and there is not really a lot that can go wrong, especially if the in-topic search is working.

Are you 100% sure its not working? The output will look exactly the same, so to test it you can try to use a special kino search attribute like type:txt to search for .txt files (assuming you have some indexed. A .txt file comes shipped with Foswiki in the System web).

Otherwise you can try to enable the KinoSearchContrib debug flag in configure (under the Extensions heading) and see if anything comes out in the debug or warning logs.
