In Active Directory the photo is stored in the variable thumbnailPhoto and not in jpegPhoto. To be able to display these photos, I added thumbnailPhoto as a blob (see patch).

Photos from AD can no be displayed using the following syntax within an %LDAP% query:

Martin, thanks for that patch. It may help others.

However, as a generic solution we need to be careful. AD is a database of sorts that each site can set-up quite differently. The patch contains a clue the #TODO comment:

Make blobs configurable

That's what really needs to be done here.

Added a blob attribute to %LDAP to specify all attributes to be handled as a blob.
