If you post a comment on a page with certain characters (like <) it will not convert it to html entities. When the page is edited with the WYSIWYG editor it will try to load the non converted '<' and crash.

This is either a bug with the comments feature, or the WYSIWYG editor.

I can't recreate this on either 1.1.9 or master (1.2). Could you provide any further information about the crash?

The comment plugin does not encode < intentionally, as you are permitted to post tags from within comments. I've tried 1.1.9 and trunk, and the Wysiwyg editor and in both cases the mismatched < is correctly encoded into the &< during the edit/save cycle.
