It is easier to maintain Release branch when the default plugins are the same 100% as in trunk.

We cannot do this with all but in many cases the only difference is the version update and it is safe to merge over.

No we cannot

The new plugin rev scheme sucks in Foswiki 1.0.6 configure

Installed plugins are reported as ONLY the SVN number which is useless.

The only thing I can do with Release branch is revert default plugins to "as they were".

Not even a manual version will be better unless it was already manual

I have changed the bug headline.

We should change the BuildContrib in trunk so that the VERSION is shown as SVN (iso date) like it used to. This way plugins will present themselves as they always did in 1.0.0 - 1.0.7. The iso date should be the date the .pm file was changed as this file always gets edited when you update the manual Release text.

For 1.0.7 we should change configure to show Release instead IF defined. Otherwise Version.
