This class is of value in its own. Can we make it a contrib of its own to be used by search engines extensions other than kino?

Very good idea! Often people do not want the whole Kinosearch package, but only a way to search attachments. Extracting the stringifiers would make the creation of a simple "attachment search contrib" much easier.
- hehe, there's no such thing like a simple attachment search -- MD

I am ready to work on it. Just waiting for Andrew to see what he says.

Yeah this sounds very sensible. Go for it

Checked in a first version of
StringifierContrib. Andrew, please have a try. Did not yet remove the stringifier gear from
KinoSearchContrib.

Unfortunately I won't be able to look at it until Sunday evening.
Assuming the unit tests pass it should be fine, but I will add a comment once I have looked.

Had a look through it and everything seems fine. All the unit tests passed.
Thanks.
