Currently, PublishPlugin ignores VIEW_TEMPLATE settings in individual topics. Commonly, VIEW_TEMPLATE is used simply to apply special layout of the content area and relies on underlying skin for all other template elements.

Therefore, I would propose that PublishPlugin respect the VIEW_TEMPLATE settings in topics and falls back to the skin specified in the PublishPlugin settings.
