Item659: Adding to bulleted list with WYSIWYG plugin in Safari 3.2.1 on MacOSX 10.5.6
Priority: Normal
Current State: No Action Required
Released In:
Target Release:
In Foswiki 1.0 Beta 3 installed on
MacOSX 10.5.6 (perl 5.8.8) in Safari 3.2.1.
Problem: Adding to a bulleted list results in non-clickable underlined links (span tags).
Editing a page with WYSIWYG edit. If an existing bulleted list with no extra formatting is added to by clicking return on the last entry, a new bullet below is created. Text while typing is underlined. Clicking to Raw edit with Pick axe, confirms it's wrapped in span tags.
* <span style="color: #0000ff; text-decoration: underline" class="Apple-style-span">Test</span>
The same edit in Firefox 3.0.5 (on the same Mac) leaves the text as raw.

I will give it a test, but I only have Safari 4. As Apple updates their browsers consequently we should not care about outdated ones.
If its still persist we have at least to quick possible solutions:

Safari plugin is now enabled by default. Verify HTML introduces lots of CPU overhead for the client, but it wouldn't be such a problem if it was easier for admins and users to turn these things on. For that, please contribute to
TinyMCEPluginShouldBeMoreModular
Craig, do you still have this problem with the latest
TinyMCEPlugin? It's available in svn and via configure

Neither Safari 4.0.4 on Windows nor
MacOS exhibit this problem.
I suspect Safari 3.x is probably better behaved under our new
TinyMCEPlugin since this report was made, but I have no way of testing.
And it's too much of a drain on our resources to fix this type of bug on an older version of a lesser used browser.
Closing due to lack of feedback.
