For me, one of the most powerful features of Foswiki (TWiki) is the search facility. Learning how to perform these searches means reading all the search documentation which can be very technical in nature.

I would like to see an extra icon (available on the WYSIWYG toolbar, and similar to the dialog that appears for creating tables) which would allow users to build up powerful searches using both the SEARCH/META variables.

How difficult would it be to integrate this into the TinyMCEPlugin?

given that the WebSearchAdvanced page already allows you to prototype SEARCH's (select a few options and then look at the bottom of the topic for the SEARCH source, this may not be too hard.

I also did a javascript UI that does a similar job using the Tag definition work that Meridith later began to implement -

mind you, its not just something for Wysiwyg smile

I use the formatted search functionality to create a large number of dynamic pages (which governance love smile ). This functionality would be primarily aimed at the casual wysiwyg user, such as governance mentioned above which would give them the ability to even filter some existing search queries for example. (using the excludetopic parameter)
