Item8143: SafeWikiPlugin destroys normal view of simple topics.
Priority: Urgent
Current State: Closed
Released In:
Target Release: n/a
When I enable
SafeWikiPlugin in a 1.0.5 installation the normal viewing of webpages with no advanced content at all becomes corrupted
In FF the left bar texts are on top of each other.
In IE the left bar is invisible
This means you cannot use the plugin at all.

Let's get this in perspective. It doesn't "destroy" or "corrupt" anything. Yes, there is a problem with the DOCTYPE declaration, but apart from that and a problem with conditional comments in IE, it is working.
I'm happy to fix problems that are found, as much as I can, but please can we have specific reports that at least do a little bit of debugging to help isolate the problems, and try to limit the hyperbole.

When you wrote the above you still had not tested it in IE.
The problems turned out to be more than just DOCTYPE and conditional comments. The plugin did destroy URLs by not encoding them correctly and both IE and FF barfed at that. The HTML validators told us that directly.
When I see a bug I raise it right away and when the bug is that the entire page is garbage when you view it - it should not be necessary to describe more and I did spend half a day with you on IRC helping with the solution.
We need this plugin released ASAP so I will finish some household and release it unless you beat me to it.
