Fixing Item8347 largely fixes this problem.

If a guest user visits a permlink that is private/protected by ACLs, they get a 404. This is probably acceptable behaviour, although it would be nice to get an opportunity to login.

However, this problem still manifests itself if rest is listed in configure under {AuthScripts}. The first time you navigate to a permlink and aren't logged in, you are taken to the login prompt. Subsequently the permlink redirect fails because of redirect_cache mechanism.
