which, tbh, i don't really know what it would mean (in a logical sense)

perl 5.12 happily deprecates such horribleness, so we have to remove it.

Olivier changed this to use exists; I guess we are waiting for word from Sven whether it works with 5.12 or not.

it fails to crash, and fails to not pass, so i assume the code does what is intended?
