Future Work
Blogs are a key part of carrying the Foswiki message to a wider community. We need to encourage people to blog about Foswiki and related topics.
How do we do this? Feel free to add your ideas to this page.
Project Dashboard
There is a suggestion on
BlogCentral to build an example project dashboard. NextWiki is genuine project which (will be) tracked. Could we eat our own dog food, building and using a project dashboard for NextWiki to keep the community informed of our progress? I've attached a
screenshot of a very simple project dashboard we've used locally. Some of the boxes are not relevant to NextWiki, but there are links to the most important bugs, milestones and key documents/activities etc. No ChartPlugin on this yet - I am sure you will have better ideas. This is my first post, so be nice...

Sounds like a great idea Steve! I would really like to read about the dashboard you use, how it was written, what information gets pulled in, what the users think of it etc, etc. If you don't have your own blog then you'll have a wait a few days until we get our own community blog up and running.

There are some project plugins already, but they aim to be all encompassing, and fall short. The dashboard is as a more agile approach, and users can include the components that are relevant to them.
What were you thinking of using the
ChartPlugin for? In terms of project diagrams, you might be interested in my
blog on CPM/PERT diagrams (I've completed some of those Next Steps since then

).
EasyTimelinePlugin could also be used to generate Gantt charts.

I think the dashboards are an essential part of every corporate intranet, and would very much like to contribute in this part. Is there any follow-up on Project Dashboards? Or any previous work to extend?

I like
CircleID. That's a news and opinion site that produces news articles, blogs, and other commentary. I especially like the way they aggregate articles of various authors and on various thematic fields. Not that I read all this stuff. It is just the way they architected the site.

- In the short term, once we’ve decided on a name for our new project, we need to ensure that we register the name in the Twitter namespace (i.e. we register www.twitter.com/our_project_name_here).
- In the long term we need to figure out if there’s anything we need to do with Twitter (like we did on the old project
I don't know if a foswiki blog is a good decision, as in my eyes blogs are more a personal think - I don't like commercial blogs (as I don't like commercials in blogs/podcasts). But nevertheless, if you do such thing, please do it right:
- The is the official source for Foswiki news on the web.
- Images are stretched. Very ugly.
