MetaCommentPlugin Usage

I installed MetaCommentPlugin manually as my server doesn't have access to the internet. However, it does not seem to be working. The documentation on the extension topic is lacking. Are there any settings I need to configure on my web(s)? If it makes a difference, I use FoswikiSiteSkin and not PatternSkin.

On PatternSkin commenting is enabled by setting the skin to

   * Set SKIN = metacomment, pattern
   * Set DISPLAYCOMMENTS = on

There are a couple of formats how comments are displayed on the topic:

   * Set COMMENTFORMAT = linear
      * other values: linear, threaded, reverse, insidetab (only available when used together with TopicInteractionPlugin)

A discussion can be either open or closed:

   * Set COMMENTSTATE = open
      * open: default
      * closed: comments made so far are displayed but no new comments can be added

These settings can be either added per topic or added to the WebPreferences where you want to enable commenting. There's a user interface in NatSkin to manage commenting preferences w/o having to add above variables by hand.

Thanks Michael. That helps me with the settings but I don't think the extension installed correctly since I can't access the System/MetaCommentPlugin topic. It errors out with

Foswiki detected an internal error - please check your Foswiki logs and webserver logs for more information.

Can't locate Imagepath in @INC (@INC contains: path . path-linux-thread-multi path path path-linux-thread-multi path path path-linux-thread-multi path path path-linux-thread-multi path path)

There are a ton of error messages in the HTTPD log file that I can't make sense of. Are there any depencies I should be checking? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks again!

In the docu at MetaCommentPlugin, the need to set DISPLAYCOMMENTS = on for PatternSkin is not yet documented.

Sorry to re-ask the same question, but on foswiki 1.0.9 with PatternSkin and MetaCommentPlugin and its dependencies installed, I don't get anything rendererd from this text:

   * Set SKIN = metacomment, pattern

   * Set COMMENTFORMAT = linear
   * Set DISPLAYCOMMENTS = on

%METACOMMENTS{}%

The settings are rendered of course (as bullet points), the plugin call is not rendered, and there is no place to add comments. Am I being stupid, or is there another setting needed to actually add the comments with PatternSkin?
